This is definitely different than expected

The original Mother, May I Sleep With Danger? is the epitome of what a Lifetime movie should be: girl meets boy; girl falls in love with boy; girl realizes boy is a crazy murderer; girl's mother feels vindicated for hating the boy all along.

It's truly a perfect film. But now, James Franco is here to toy with the Mother, May I Sleep With Danger?'slegacy by turning it into a lesbian vampire parody of the 1996 cult classic.

Based on the trailer, the real saving grace of Franco's remake is that Tori Spelling, who played the daughter in the original, now plays the role of the mother. And anything that brings Tori Spelling back to Lifetime should be applauded!

So who knows? Maybe Franco's Mother, May I Sleep With Danger? will become a cult hit in its own right. We'll just have to wait and see.

Mother, May I Sleep With Danger?premieres Saturday, June 18 at 8/7c on Lifetime.
