Diane Lane's Y: The Last Man Series Hits a Major Snag at FX

The show will reportedly go on, but with different showrunners

Just when Y: The Last Man fans thought there was light at the end of the tunnel, the beleaguered series has hit another major roadblock at FX.

Just a couple of months after the TV adaptation of the popular graphic novel by Brian K. Vaughn and Pia Guerra received a series greenlight in February, executive producers Aida Croal and Michael Green released a joint statement on Monday announcing they are parting ways with the show: "Sad news for fans of Y: The Last Man today. FX has decided not to move forward with our series in its current form," the statement reads. "We are grateful or everyone who came together to make our pilot and build the world of Y...We hoped to reward their talent and trust not just with success but with a show that had something to say, in a time when things must be said. As Y fans ourselves, we hope the future allows just that."

But FX insists this isn't the end of the road for the series, simply dubbed Y. TV Guide has confirmed the series is still moving forward with the same cast, but Croal and Green will be replaced after creative differences with the network. The network is searching for new showrunners to take over the universe.

FX reportedly began working on the series in 2015 but didn't start casting until 2018. Fans started to perk up when A-lister Diane Lane joined the cast alongside Lashana Lynch, Imogen Poots, and Amber Tamblyn, among others, and FX announced this winter it was picking the show up to series, but it seems they will have to wait a bit longer.
